Thailand: between parties and temples

Ok my friends, I am really sorry because I am so late about my articles in English. But now will be change. I will write quickly and just for you (a bit for me to improve my English writing) 6 articles of 6 countries in 1 week. Deal? Let’s go!

So, the first one is the Thailand. I will present yourself this crazy touristic country in 2 parts: South Thailand and North Thailand.

Islands, parties and snorkelling: welcome in South of Thailand!

I stayed almost 3 weeks there. 3 crazy weeks where I have spent lot of money in different parties. But this part of Thailand it’s not only for drink some beers and go to dance out. There are lot of famous islands. I will present these islands one by one.

Koh Lanta is the best one to see more local people. The island is a bit big, so you need to rent a motorbike to move inside. You can also see a National Park in the south and a night market in the extreme north. All accommodations, restaurants and bars are on the west coast. The east coast is better to see local people and fisherman villages.

Koh Phi Phi is my favourite one. A small island without cars and motorbikes where you can walk easily in a small town. You can walk also in a kind of jungle to access on quiet beach. The best idea is to rent a kayak (a boat is a bit expensive) to go around the island and see some wonderful beaches. On the main beach, there are lot of parties and fire games during the night until 2:00am.

Phuket, probably the worst one. If you stay in Phuket Town, I think that is ok. You can rent a scooter and see around the island. But if you stay in Patong (Phuket area), be careful. This part is full of tourists and kind of sexual parties during the night. But it’s also a good part of the island if you want to book some activities around.

Koh Samui is a bit the same than Phuket. It’s an island with lot of tourists and resorts. You can also rent a motorbike to see inside the Island, in a middle it’s more beautiful. But for the rest… parties are expensive and dirty like the accommodations. If you stay long time, sleep in a backpacker is the cheapest way.

Koh Phangan is the famous one. For the nightlife you can’t find a better place. The Full Moon Party is from here but also the Jungle Party, the Waterfall Party, the Half Moon Party… You see? It’s party every days! But Koh Phangan is not only that. It’s also an amazing island with lot of small beaches without tourists and some beautiful places in the hills/mountains of the island.

Koh Tao is a kind of peaceful island. After (or between) the parties of Koh Phangan, you can stay on this island to do a break. You can also spend your time here for snorkelling, scuba diving and see the national park (great place).

Between the both part: Bangkok

The Thailand capital is a bit like the south and the north of the country. The south because the nightlife is really crazy and you have lot of places to spend an awesome night. And the north because this city is full of temples and pagodas, good places for take a break and going out from the noisy city.

Temples, quiet and meditation: have a good trip in the north

Like the south, northern Thailand propose different places to stay and to see temples.

Ayutthaya and Sukhothai are two small towns where you can see ruins of temples. On each place, the best way is to rent a bicycle. The Ayutthaya’s ruins are a bit too old and dirty, that’s why, I think that Sukhothai is better to see.

Chiang Mai and Pai are two places to see lot of temple and stay for a peaceful time. They are perfect for start a kind of meditation and learn about that with some Buddhist books.

Chiang Rai, close to Laos’s border, is famous for his 2 temples: White and Black. The both are opposite but worst to see for the architecture and the illustration of the death and the darkness.

At the end, Thailand is a good place to stay during holidays, not really during a long trip. It’s full of tourist and it’s really hard to learn about the culture. But it’s also the best place to see beautiful islands and turquoise sea like postal cards.
