This article will be quickly because after Angkor there are no many things to do in the country. You will see…
Siem Reap and Angkor temples
I think is the best place to see temples in Asia. Siem Reap is the city before Angkor (10km). Here you can find cheap accommodation, food and beer (0,50€ draught beer). The cheapest way to join Angkor is the bicycle but you can also take a motorbike, taxi, tuk-tuk, it’s also possible to pay a driver for the day.
For me, 1 day is enough to visit all the temples from the sunrise to the sunset. But you can stay 2 or 3 days if you want to know the history of each temple and understand the traditional culture. You should leave from your hostel around 5:00am for the sunrise. There are lot of tourists during the sunrise and the sunset, it’s better to arrive early to have a good spot. Don’t miss Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm, the three best temples of Angkor area.
After that, you can spend 1 day in the capital Phnom Penh. Few monuments to see, the Khmers Rouge history, a big river and… lot of traffic. One of the craziest city in Asia! “Tuk-tuk”, “Taxi” or “Massage” are the favourite word in Phnom Penh.
South of Cambodia
In the south of the country you can chill few days in Sihanoukville. There, you have a beautiful beach, plenty of bars and restaurants. All are really cheap and a bit funny. The nightlife is not the same than in Thailand but better than nothing.
Close to Sihanoukville, you have Kampot. Less touristic than the rest of Cambodia, Kampot is a small city quiet with a river, a fisherman village and pepper farms around. Also, you can find the Bokor National Park, good to see in a half day for an amazing view in mountains.
And, that's it. I told you, Cambodia is a small country and there are not lot things to do. But, just for Angkor temples, you need to go there.
